Hello and welcome to Yogabellies my name is Jacqui and I am based in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. (Email contact address: jacyogabellies@gmail.com)
I am so please that you have taken the first steps of improving your health and well-being, regardless of the life stage you are at….. Here’s my story….
I began teaching many years ago while my two sons were relatively small ( they are now 23 and 25 respectively) I began teaching fitness yoga initially as my background was in dance and fitness and at that time around the late 90’s early 00’s, it seemed to be the progressive thing to do from other forms of fitness disciplines. In addition I have trained and worked as a Personal Trainer, Pilates and Yoga Instructor and other specialist areas such as GP referral, lower back pain management, obesity and diabetes and working with older frailer adults as a PSI (postural stability instructor), my occupations have included being a Physical Activity Specialist and a Falls Prevention Practitioner.
Yoga has always been my passion, as it has so many aspects to health, and it certainly has helped me during my life journey, particularly as I have had one a two health scares along the way….. yoga has helped me through them.
I have continued to study yoga more and more and from this aspect it has brought me to have more of a restorative approach to yoga and that is where I am now. I am a mature woman who has been through most of the life stages and changes of a woman and womanhood and I’m now at the other end of the spectrum. I hear such a lot from other women of a certain age who experience many elements in later life, things that affect their health; their hormones the menopausal symptoms and this leads to other issues like bone health and bone density which yoga can help with.
It has so many benefits to women of any age and from any walk of life and mothers to be can gain so much from this discipline. It can help physically mentally and emotionally and this is why I feel that women would benefit from my approach to teaching yoga as I have understanding, caring and total empathy with what they are experiencing or what they’re going to experience and to be able to draw on that and help them and encourage them to build relationships and make friends and build a community with other likeminded women who are going through exactly the same things
Yoga has many elements to do with our very being, breathing our bodies and how the discipline can help nourish our bodies and allow us to take time for ourselves. We spend a lot of time in busy jobs with busy lifestyles, with work and family commitments but we also need to restore and recover our bodies, so it’s from that aspect I can help by delivering yoga as a health benefit to women. Let yoga become a part of your life….
I would love to hear your story…
Sending you lots of love and peace
Jacqui x
