????????‍♀️Sadly, there are a lot of unqualified (and frankly dangerous) yoga teachers out there, teaching pre and postnatal women. There is also a lot of misinformation on the net: Don’t go down that rabbit hole ladies!

????????‍♀️Please DON’T jump onto random YouTube videos and try postures such as chaturangas and planks, crunches, boats or any form of high impact or dynamic yoga practice that could cause too much intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) and result in damaging abdominal separation, hernia’s, a prolapse or a compromised pelvic floor.

????????‍♀️These issues happen due to a poor pressure management issue, and one of the best ways to manage changes in pressure in your body is through ????yogic breathing???? With every inhale, the pressure in your abdominal cavity increases and with every exhale it decreases????????‍♀️When managing high amounts of IAP the first thing you should do is exhale; let out the air and relieve the pressure. So many of us mistakingly hold our breath under pressure (including birth), but it is essential to breathe out.

????????‍♀️Instead find yourself a Certified YogaBellies Teacher, who will take you through a safe and effective sequence, customised to your personal circumstances. Even during lock down, our YogaBelliesLIVE sessions, bring your teacher straight into your living room ????????

????Checkout our YouTube channel YogaBelliesTV to find out more about YogaBellies breathing and visit our website to find a YogaBelliesLIVE teacher, at a time that suits you.
